Samuel Hale Obituary, BOZEMAN, Mont. — Samuel Hale, 23, of Bozeman, died following a vehicle crash in Gallatin Canyon in the early morning hours of Friday.
According to the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. as Hale was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 191 in a Chevrolet Silverado near mile marker 54, in the area of Portal Creek and the Karst neighborhood.
Authorities said the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Hale was transported to Bozeman Health Big Sky Medical Center following the crash, where he was pronounced deceased.
Officials determined that Hale died from blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled accidental. The Montana Highway Patrol’s fatality report indicated that road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
Investigators reported that speed is suspected to have played a role in the collision. The fatality report also indicated that Hale was not wearing a seatbelt. Drugs and alcohol were not listed as suspected contributing factors.
