Tyshawnta Davis and Darrelle Smith Obituary, MARION COUNTY, S.C. — Two people were killed and another was injured in a shooting near Mullins early Saturday morning, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a reported shooting shortly after midnight Saturday in the 4000 block of Zion Road near Tyvola Road, according to an updated news release from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found three people who had been shot. Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson identified the two deceased victims as Tyshawnta Davis and Darrelle Smith.
The third victim survived the shooting and is expected to recover, authorities said. Officials did not immediately release additional information about the survivor’s condition.
Investigators recovered more than 50 bullet casings at the scene. The casings were found in two separate areas, according to authorities, as detectives worked to piece together what happened.
Authorities believe several people in the surrounding community may have witnessed the shooting or captured portions of the incident on surveillance or cellphone video. Investigators are asking anyone with potentially relevant information or footage to come forward.
