Josh Georgeson Obituary, EDMONTON, Alta. — A 21-year-old male motorcyclist died after a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle in Edmonton on the evening of Aug. 19, 2026, according to the Edmonton Police Service.
Police responded to the collision at approximately 8:28 p.m. in the area of 34 Street and 64 Avenue. Investigators said a 2017 Land Rover Range Rover was travelling southbound on 34 Street and attempting to turn eastbound onto 64 Avenue when a motorcycle, also travelling southbound on 34 Street, struck the rear of the Range Rover.
Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, but the 21-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Police have not publicly released his name in their collision statement.
The Range Rover was being driven by a 44-year-old woman, who remained at the scene along with two passengers. Police said the driver and her passengers did not report any injuries at the time of the collision.
The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigations Section is handling the investigation. Police said speed is believed to have been a factor in the collision, although the investigation remains ongoing.
A family member identified the deceased as Josh Georgeson in a social media post following the collision and said police had notified the family of his death. The family also announced that a funeral service is scheduled for Aug. 29, with a viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the service at 2 p.m. at Edmonton Crematorium and Funeral Home on Roper Road.
Police are asking witnesses and motorists who may have dashcam footage related to the collision to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be provided to Crime Stoppers.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are continuing to seek information that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. The death has left the victim’s family and loved ones grieving as they prepare to remember him and lay him to rest.
