Leighton Brown Obituary, BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Leighton Brown, a 56-year-old New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) maintenance worker, has died after an uprooted tree fell on him during a powerful nor’easter in Brooklyn.

Brown was working an overtime shift when the incident occurred outside the Cypress Hills Houses in Brooklyn. According to the information shared by Atlanta Black Star, Brown was in a parking lot when the tree came down and pinned him.

First responders arrived at the scene and performed CPR before transporting Brown to Brookdale Hospital. He later died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the incident.

Before Brown’s name was publicly released, residents of the Cypress Hills Houses reportedly recognized him as the maintenance worker they affectionately called “Mr. Fix-It.” Residents remembered him as someone they could turn to when something in their homes needed attention.
